Bargaining
The Collective Agreement that is currently in effect between SaskTel and Unifor expires on March 16, 2024.
In the months leading up to the expiry of the Collective Agreement will prepare for the bargaining with the company. A proposal package will be developed through extensive consultation with the membership. In preparation for a round of bargaining the Union will be go through various steps in order to gather the members priorities for negotiations.
Over the summer months we will distribute proposal forms to the Unifor members at SaskTel.
The proposals will be discussed in Local Bargaining Caucuses and passed on to a Provincial Caucus.
Provincial Caucus
Each local will send three delegates to the Provincial Caucus where they will meet with the Local Presidents, the SaskCouncil Bargaining committee nominees and the National Representative. Every proposal will be discussed, debated and voted on. After several intensive days, a final bargaining package will be developed.
The Provincial Caucus not only determines which proposals will go forward, but also sets the priorities for the Bargaining Committee. Once the package is developed, it is up to the Bargaining Committee to develop arguments for each proposal and then present that justification to the company.
The package will be presented to SaskTel at the beginning of December. SaskTel will also present the Union a list of the demands that they wish to discuss with the Union.
